Please feel free to use this group to introduce yourself—what’s your background in nephrology, and where are you located? What are you currently researching, and what are you interested in researching in the future? Also, what do you think of the site?
As for me, I’m one of the editors for the ISN Network, and I’m the also the Assistant Editor for Kidney International. I assist Jennifer Henry, and we’re both based in huge metropolitan that is New York City.
I’ve recently set up two groups, Kidney International and Ethics of Organ Transplantation. Join them if you’re interested, or create your own.
The rapid rise of networking sites within the past few years is amazing; hopefully this particular site will simultaneously be social and informative, helping you to exchange information and ideas, and meet others in your field. Welcome!

Aloha Katie Young,
I am a retired Engineer, who presented to my PCP in late 06 about frequent night toilet trips. This lead to finding & treating prostate cancer. Has been eight months since treatment. It has been a very slow healing process made difficult because the frequent night toilet trips. IN-OUT logs indicate that urine production during the day are about 28 cc/hr vs. night of 125 cc/hr. I posted the kidney day-night question, but have had no responses. Is this the correct place to post such a question?
Thank you,
Joe McCleskey -
Dear Mr. Joe,
During deep sleep, A hormone called ADH is secreted which retains the water filterd by glomeruli and hence less urine production. During day time it acts normally according to the water intake and serum osmolality. But disturbed sleepcan disturb even the ADH secretion and lads to frequent urination if you are awake. It is common experience for all the human beings.
