JOINT FELLOWSHIPS
Over recent years, the ISN Fellowship Program has expanded to allow opportunities for nephrologists from emerging countries to train in Host Centers in their own region of the world, rather than exclusively in North America, Europe, or Australasia. Such Fellowships are consistent with the overall goal of the Fellowship Program to build capacity by offering appropriate clinical and research training.

ISN – Kidneys for Life Fellowship
A partnership agreement between ISN and Kidney for Life is finalized for all young applicants (usually below 40 years) from developing countries to train in The Manchester Royal Infirmary Hospital.

ISN – Amgen Fellowship
A partnership agreement between ISN and Amgen was finalized for young applicants (usually below 40 years) from Egypt, South Africa, Turkey, or Russia who wish to train in clinical nephrology, in educational methods or research. Candidates interested in the ISN-Amgen Fellowship should follow the usual application procedure and send their documents to the ISN HQs before 15 June or 15 December of 2013-2014.

ISN-ANIO Indukaka Ipcowala Fellowship
A partnership agreement has been signed with the ISN – ANIO India Committee aiming at encouraging Fellowship candidates of Indian origin wishing to train in renal pathology, transplant (especially deceased donor transplant) and CKD epidemiology.

ISN – APSN Fellowship
A partnership agreement with the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) was finalised in order to enhance the advancement of nephrology in the Asian Pacific region.
This agreement targets young physicians training in nephrology in the Asian Pacific area and applying for a fellowship training to be hosted within the Asian Pacific region.

ISN – CREED Fellowship
ISN signed a partnership agreement with the Cross Regional Education and Exchange in Dialysis (CREED) program that is committed to working for the advancement of nephrology in the developing world, more particularly in Oceania and SE Asia (OSEA).
This agreement targets young physicians from South East Asia (preferably from Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, or Laos) wishing to train in any appropriate country in Oceania and South East Asia only.

ISN – ERA-EDTA Fellowship
A partnership agreement with the European Renal Association – European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) was also finalised in order to enhance the advancement of nephrology in Eastern & Central Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East.
This agreement targets young physicians from Northern Africa, Middle East or Eastern Europe to be hosted in an European unit.

ISN – IPNA Fellowship
A partnership agreement with the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA) was recently finalised and targets applicants who wish to train in paediatric nephrology.

ISN – Kidney Research UK Fellowship
A recent partnership agreement with the Kidney Research UK was established and targets applicants who would like to carry out a 12-month training within a UK institution: the fellowship should include both clinical nephrology and research. Successful fellows will be eligible to attend an annual Fellows Day held by Kidney Research UK, enabling them to network with other UK trainee clinicians.

ISN – Hong Kong Visiting Fellowship
ISN offers a Special Fellowship in collaboration with the Hong Kong and Chinese Societies of Nephrology. This Fellowship scheme is designed to enable Chinese Fellows to train in selected host centers in Hong Kong. Three short-term fellowships will be made available each year. Each grant consists of three months of training, which ISN and HKSN will support with US$ 6,500.

ISN – SLANH Fellowship
A partnership agreement with SLANH (Sociedad Latinoamericana de Nefrologia e Hipertension) was finalised in order to enhance the advancement of nephrology within Latin America.

ISN – University of Michigan Fellowship
ISN and the University of Michigan have concluded an agreement to develop a partnership to express their mutual commitment to the advancement of nephrology in the English speaking Caribbean area and Sub-Saharan African Region.

ISN – TSN Fellowship
ISN offers a special opportunity for young nephrologists from Turkey who have been awarded a training grant from the Turkish Society of Nephrology. TSN Fellows that are interested in receiving additional funding by the ISN may apply to the ISN Fellowship Program. Provided they are successful, they will receive supplementary assistance on top of their TSN training grant, as well as the title “ISN-TSN Fellow” and the regular benefits granted to ISN Fellows.

In recognition of the great contributions from Amgen, Otsuka, the Salmasi and Schrier families, ISN has established some special fellowships:
ISN – Amgen Fellowship
In recognition of Amgen’s great generosity and contribution to the ISN Schrier fund, the title of ISN-Amgen Fellow is awarded to the highest-ranked candidate from the first round of application each year in order to to reflect Amgens important contributions to the ISN global mission.
ISN – Schrier Family Fellowship
Mrs. and Professor Schrier have made a very generous donation to the ISN the Schrier fund which is dedicated to supporting ISN’s substantial outreach and capacity building programs in emerging countries. It helps to enhance programs such as (but not limited to) the ISN Fellowship Program, the ISN Renal Sister Center Program, the ISN Educational Ambassadors Program and Continuing Medical Education Program. It will also seed the development of new initiatives to help the prevention and progression of renal disease.
In recognition of Mrs and Prof. Schrier’s great generosity and contribution to ISN, the title of ISN-Schrier Family Fellow is awarded to the 1st best candidate from Africa in the first round of application each year in order to reflect the Schrier’s important contributions to the ISN global mission.
ISN – Salmasi Family Fellowship
The Salmasi Family has generously donated funds to ISN to support a yearly Fellowship for nephrologists coming from developing countries. The title of ISN-Salmasi Family Fellow is awarded to the highest-ranked candidate from the second round of application each year in order to to reflect the Salmasi Familys important contributions to the ISN global mission.
ISN – Otsuka Fellowship
In recognition of Otsuka’s great generosity and contribution to the ISN Schrier fund, the title of ISN-Otsuka Fellow is awarded to the second best candidate from the second round of application each year in order to reflect Otsukas important contributions to the ISN global mission.
ISN – Saulo Klahr Fellowship
In recognition of Saulos great contributions to ISN and to nephrology, each year the ISN fellowship program will award a fellowship named after Saulo to the best candidate from Latin America.
