ISN regularly endorses a number of meetings of high scientific and educational quality that are beneficial to the renal and related scientific communities.

Take part in the ISN World Congress of Nephrology (WCN) in Mexico City from April 21 to 25, 2017. For the first time, an international nephrology congress focuses on diabetes and kidney disease, a worldwide problem, but one very important to Latin America and Mexico in particular.

As of April 29, 2016, send your abstracts and register for the ISN Forefronts symposium taking place in Vienna from December 9 to 11, 2016. The theme for this meeting is regulatory RNAs and the kidney.

Drug development has dramatically improved the outcome of diseases in most medical disciplines. However, this does not seem to be the case in nephrology. This will be discussed in two weeks’ time when the ISN Nexus symposium will take place in Berlin, Germany from April 14 to 17, 2016.

ISN founder Jean Hamburger rightly recognized the need for an international forum and started the ball rolling for a truly “world congress” tailored to the nephrology community. After much success in Hong Kong in June 2013, ISN’s World Congress of Nephrology is heading to Cape Town, South Africa from March 13 to 17, 2015. This is a special occasion as it is the first time the World Congress of Nephrology is held in Africa.

The 9th European Renal Pathology Course will take place in Amsterdam from June 9-12, 2015. This four-day course has been designed for pathologists, nephrologists, pediatric nephrologists and residents in these specialties. CLICK HERE for more information.

Just one day to go before the abstract submissions deadline closes for the 10th World Congress of Nephrology (WCN) satellite conference organized by the ISN Advisory Committee for Kidney Health in Disadvantaged Populations (CKHDP). Deadline is Thursday, November 20, 2014.

World Kidney Day will be celebrated on March 12, 2015. This time around the focus is on Kidney Health for All.

Save the date for the next ISN Nexus Symposium, which will take place in Berlin, Germany from April 14 to 17, 2016 at the Hotel Melia Berlin. This meeting is set to cover translational immunology in kidney disease and new therapies for renal immunopathology.

“Extrinsic” regulation of renal function by factors such as circulating hormones or nerves is critically important for body homeostasis and has been extensively studied. The kidneys also have a substantial capacity for “intrinsic” regulation of their physiology and pathophysiology, involving a large and growing number of paracrine and autocrine factors including, but not limited to, arachidonic acid derivatives, nucleotides, numerous peptides, nitric oxide, carbon monoxide, and reactive oxygen species.
