Mentoring Program

The aim of this program is to foster international relationships between nephrologists and nephrologists-in-training or more junior nephrologists/nephrology researchers.

The program has a special interest in promoting exchange visits between the mentees and the mentors so that all can learn from each other. Therefore, participants of this program will be given additional consideration when applying for ISN Programs.

Faculty mentors should be members of academic medical centers with experience in clinical nephrology and/or research. Mentors who are currently in fellowship training are also welcomed and will be paired with medical students or medical residents. As a general rule, mentors will be assigned to no more than two people at any given time.

If you are interested in being mentored, please complete this form and send it to [email protected]:

  1. Your level of training (i.e. student, resident, fellow, post-doctoral research, or junior faculty)

Interested in Mentoring

If you are interested in serving as a mentor, please submit this Mentor form and a photo to [email protected]. Faculty mentors should be members of academic medical centers with experience in clinical nephrology and/or research. Mentors who are currently in fellowship training are also welcomed and will be paired with medical students or medical residents. As a general rule, mentors will be assigned to no more than two people at any given time.

Please specify the following:

1.  Current profession titles, position, and institution as well as years of appointment
2.  Clinical interests and expertise
3.  Publications and Research interests (with funding information, if any) and expertise
4.  Language(s) spoken
5.  Level of mentoring preferred: medical student, resident trainee, fellow trainee, junior faculty, or all of the above.

The participants communicate primarily by email or teleconferences usually once or twice per month to discuss clinical cases and/or research projects of mutual interest. We are actively expanding this program to include more mentors from the ISN Young Nephrologists’ Committee as well as more senior members of the ISN leadership. A mentoring relationship will be established for a minimum of one-year, and an annual assessment of whether to complete or continue the mentorship program participation for each pair will be determined.
