General Information

The Renal Sister Center Program was launched to enhance cooperation between nephrology centers worldwide. Its objective is for renal centers in the developed world to join with centers in emerging countries by exchanging faculty, fellows, students, and equipment, as well as cooperating in clinical research projects and educational courses.

The response has been remarkable: 145 Renal Sister Center paired relationships (250 nephrology units worldwide) have already been established. These links involve 57 emerging countries and 17 in the developed world.

The establishment of partnerships has a positive bearing on the awarding of ISN supporting funds and program assistance, though in principle the sister center partnership should be self-supporting. If resources permit, a center in a developed country may consider arranging a second agreement with a different center in the developing world.

New Center Relationships

To further enhance ISN programs aimed at fostering global advancement in nephrology, an ever-growing network of paired nephrology centers is being established.

ISN’s network of sister partnerships provides a solid, long-lasting basis for the Society’s assistance programs. All centers that already have or are willing to enter into a relationship with a renal center in another part of the world are asked to consider participation.
