Interventional Nephrology

'Interventional Nephrology is an emerging paradigm in nephrology in response to the increasing role of other specialists such as radiologists in procedures previously peformed by nephrologists.  Practical knowledge of such interventional procedures is now less represented in many nephrology training programs.

In 2004 ISN created an Interventional Nephrology Committee which seeks to provide topical information and educational tools to ensure the highest standards in all aspects of interventional nephrology. It aims to make aspects of interventional nephrology part of the overall ISN educational mission, with the goals that these actions will improve patient care, and will also make nephrology a more attractive specialty for young physicians
