ISN and the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN) have entered into an educational partnership agreement to promote and improve the understanding and management of clinical issues concerning dialysis access care.
The ISN-ASDIN collaboration will focus through seminars, symposia, and exchange of educational materials to advance Interventional Nephrology worldwide.
Interventional nephrology is a young and developing field within nephrology that aims to encourage nephrologists to develop skills to perform procedures related to dialysis access so dialysis patients can receive timely and appropriate care and minimize the interruptions with the dialysis treatments.
Some of the procedures performed by nephrologists include placement of catheters (tunneled and non-tunneled), endovascular therapy of dysfunctional permanent arteriovenous access, peritoneal dialysis catheter placement, kidney biopsy, kidney and vascular access ultrasonography and AV access surgery.
The collaboration hopes to improve global awareness and overall importance of dialysis access care within the nephrology community.
