Webinar: ADPKD – Imaging Biomarkers and Targeted Therapeutics

This ISN-KDIGO co-produced webinar will help one understand the clinical course of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), understand the assessment of disease progression in ADPKD using imaging modalities including magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound and become knowledgable regarding new therapeutic approaches for ADPKD.

Description of the Webinar

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease  (ADPKD) is the fourth leading cause of ESRD world wide and affects approximately 3,000,000 individuals globally. ADPKD is characterized by cyst growth and development leading to renal enlargement that continues unabated for decades prior to loss of kidney function. Imaging biomarkers using magnetic resonance techniques have been tested and developed that provide accurate, reproducible and reliable estimates of cyst burden and cyst  growth over a relatively short period of time allowing for the evaluation of a variety of therapeutic agents.

About the Facilitator

Dr. Arlene Chapman – Chief, Section of Nephrology, Professor of Medicine University of Chicago School of Medicine.

Arlene Chapman is an international expert in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). Dr. Chapman received her MD from McMaster University.  She completed her internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship training at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and her clinical research fellowship training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She was previously a member of the faculty at the University of Colorado and Emory University before joining the University of Chicago as Section Chief in March 2015.l
