Profile Description and Training plan:

I graduated with MBBS from Fiji School of Medicine. Currently I am a final year Master of Medicine-Internal Medicine student at Fiji National University. I will graduate in December 2015. This is my 7th year of clinical practice. I have special interest in Nephrology and I am really grateful to ISN for this opportunity for training. Chronic kidney disease is a major problem in Fiji, and a recent project estimated the annual incidence of end stage kidney disease to be around 674 per million. In addition, treatment of Acute Kidney Injury has been challenging and we have only recently started dialysis treatment for AKI. Currently, Fiji has only one trained renal physician for a population of 837,271 (2007 census). With further training I will be able to support the existing Nephrology services in Fiji, train other junior doctors, and advocate for kidney health with the ultimate aim to improve health outcomes for the people of Fiji.
