Positive outcome for first Kidney Smart Meals campaign

During this year’s World Congress of Nephrology, some 453 Kidney Smart Meals were served up in restaurants across Vancouver, Canada. The objective: raise awareness about kidney health and generate funds to improve training opportunities for kidney doctors worldwide.

During the week of the congress, official hotels and restaurants around the city offered signature menu items with the Kidney Smart label. For every Kidney Smart meal served, participating restaurants made a two dollar charitable donation to the World Kidney Day campaign.

Proceeds will be split between the Kidney Foundation of British Columbia  –  to support local kidney disease awareness and prevention efforts, and ISN – to support kidney care in the developing world. ISN is enthusiastic about the outcome of this initiative and looks forward to developing similar campaigns for future congresses.
