ISN and Canadian Society of Nephrology celebrate over 10 years of collaboration Featured

It has now been over 10 years since the Canadian Society of Nephrology (CSN) became a collective member of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN).

One of CSN’s biggest achievements was its support in organizing the ISN World Congress of Nephrology (WCN) 2011 in Vancouver, gathering over 5,000 participants from some 110 countries. CSN members hosted WCN participants in their homes as part of an outreach program, and contributed to free registration for several participants from less fortunate countries. An auction at the Museum of Canadian History also raised $18,000 for victims of the Japanese tsunami.

This congress launched the recurring theme of Sustainability and Diversity. Sharing knowledge and bringing people together is a sustainable way of improving kidney care for patients worldwide, and acknowledging diversity in perspectives, people, and healthcare challenges is one of ISN’s key activities.

Currently, 494 CSN members are part of ISN and 202 of these are ISN members in-training. ISN President Adeera Levin says: “The Canadian Society of Nephrology is proud of its association and integration with ISN activities, and continues to be involved through the ISN Programs and leadership.”
