The deadline for applications for the ISN Clinical Research and Prevention Program is coming up on October 1st, 2014. If you are thinking of applying, make sure to do so before this date. We are particularly looking for applications from the Asia Pacific region.
You can find out more about this program and the application procedure HERE.
What areas of research are eligible?
Three types of studies are funded under the Research and Prevention program:
- Screening and intervention studies studies identify individuals at high risk for or with CKD by screening programs. These studies should be complemented by activating follow-up programs for these patients through medical management including health education, lifestyle modification and pharmacological treatment to reduce end stage kidney and cardiovascular disease and mortality.
- Clinical local research studies addressing specific local needs. Perform small clinical research projects aimed to address specific needs at the local regional/country level. Projects should be related to acute and chronic kidney disease.
- Special focus on Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) studies
Please note that for this round of applications, special priority will be given to projects that focus on clinical aspects of AKI in low and middle income countries – especially studies on epidemiology, risk factors, prevention and treatment and this to be in line with the 0by25 ISN human rights initiative.
The deadline to apply is October 1st, 2014. Accepted projects will be announced in January 2015. Before being submitted, applications must be approved by the ISN Regional Coordinators, who survey the activities of the prevention programs on a regional level. They help applicants to prepare their applications before submission.
Prospective applicants must contact their ISN Regional Coordinator a minimum of one month before the submission deadline. For a list of Regional Coordinators, visit KHDC guidelines.
Proposals are evaluated by an independent and geographically representative ISN Selection Committee. The first three ranked projects in each round are awarded a 10,000 to 15,000 USD grant for setting up the local program.
