This program was launched in early 1992 to assist colleagues at medical schools and
hospitals in less fortunate situations to upgrade their libraries with books and journals
pertinent to their particular specialties. While the focus has been on nephrology, the ISN
has had the opportunity to provide materials for other disciplines as well.
This venture is made possible through the generosity of a number of publishers who have
agreed to provide these books and journals free of charge. The list of contributing
publishers is growing, thus enabling the Library Enhancement Program to benefit an
increasingly large number of libraries located in remote areas.
