Fellowship Matching Initiative

The Fellowship Matching Initiative is being launched with the aim of helping potential applicants locate a renal center that is willing to welcome him/her for training and to facilitate the contact between them, if the needs of both are suitably matched.

The agreement of a training plan between the applicant fellow, his/her home mentor and potential host mentor is a mandatory requirement for the submission of a Fellowship application. Candidates are encouraged to establish relationships of their own accord and to benefit from relationships that their institution may already have with other well established renal centers.?

The Matcher?

is oriented towards helping young nephrologists who do not have adequate contacts in the developed world that would allow them to benefit from an ISN Fellowship Training Award.

Currently the ISN is developing an online tool called ?The Matcher? and is calling upon

interested Host Institutions

to submit their training offers. If you are an Institution or Nephrologist who would like to partake in this program please fill out and submit the

Host Institution Identification Form

.

‘The Matcher? is coming soon and will provide the following functionalities:

  • Interested applicants will be enabled to fill out an online form with their personal details and an  indication of their preferred topic amongst a variety of options.

  • A list of the relevant training centers which offer the chosen training topic will appear.

  •  The applicant selects a maximum of 3 preferred centers. The information is automatically submitted to the ISN Global Headquarters.

  • The request for a match will need to be accompanied by a letter from the designated host mentor indicating why and how the selected training topic will be of a benefit to the fellow?s institution upon his/her return home after completion of the training.

  • The above information and letter will be sent by the ISN Global Headquarters to the selected institutions for their review. They in turn may choose to either accept to be matched to the applicant or refuse to accept the request due to reasons at their own discretion (no availability, criteria not met, internal policies?)

  • The ISN Global Headquarters will communicate the acceptance or rejection of the matching request to the applicant and in the case of a positive outcome will arrange for contact between the applicant and possible host mentor.
