No clinical advancement has excited the hypertension community (patients, physicians, and their industrial partners) as much as renal nerve ablation via a percutaneous technique. The rationale is based on ablation of inappropriate autonomic tone in the kidney that had been applied far earlier with surgical sympathectomy.
