Clinical trial on herbal and alternative remedies for hypertension patients in Senegal

The ISN Clinical and Research Program funded specific research into the efficiency of kinkeliba on non-complicated hypersensitive patients. The project was awarded USD 15,000 in 2013. Completed in early 2014, it received the best clinical research prize at the 2015 ISN World Congress of Nephrology congress and the 10th Conference on Kidney Disease in Disadvantaged Populations.

An-Najah University Hospital carries out first kidney transplants

A team from the Liverpool International Transplant Initiative and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital carried out the first two kidney transplants at the An-Najah University Hospital in Nablus, on the West Bank on March 26, 2016. The collaboration was made possible thanks to the ISN and The Transplant Society (TTS) Sister Transplant Center Program.
Following this year’s World Kidney Day, The Mario Negri Institute is happy to announce that there will be another edition of the Scientific Writing Academy, taking place from September 12 to 18, 2016 in Ranica, Bergamo, Italy.
ISN Educational Ambassador Hui Kim Yap recently made a trip to Myanmar. Based at the National University of Singapore, she taught local doctors at two of the country’s major children’s hospitals the latest skills relating to dialysis and shared her knowledge of clinical nephrology and acute kidney injury.
Training clinical staff was the key success of the trio sister renal center partnership with Brest Regional Hospital, the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Hospital in Kaunas and Ghent University Hospital, Belgium.

This year, the Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) will co-fund eight ISN Sister Renal Centers (SRC) from OSEA, South Asia and North & East Asia.
The ISN Sister Center (SRC) Program has finalized the list of centers that will take part in the program following the recent call for applications. We would like to welcome them to the program and congratulate this year’s graduates.
Following the recent call for applications, 10 new centers will welcome an ISN Educational Ambassador to their institution in 2016.

ISN Fellow Sudakshina Ghosh from Tanzania trained at the Madras Medical Mission and got involved with India’s Tanker Foundation, which helps the country’s poorest kidney patients.

Baxter and University Health Network to co-fund home dialysis training

ISN is happy to announce that Baxter and the University Health Network in Toronto is set to co-fund ISN Fellows wishing to receive training in home dialysis. As required in all ISN Fellowship Programs, participants are encouraged to share what they have learned with their colleagues once they return to their home institution.
Following the recent application session, the ISN Programs team is happy to announce that a total of 25 ISN Fellowships have now been approved, with 19 new ISN Fellows and six extensions.
