ISN 2003 Elections Results announced at General Assembly in
Berlin

At the recent World Congress of Nephrology (WCN 2003) in
Berlin, Germany, the results of the 2003 ISN Elections of Directors and Officers
were officially announced.

We would like to thank all our members for the great interest
in this year’s elections and for the high participation in the elections.

ISN congratulates and is pleased to welcome the
following new Councillors:

North America: Joanne Miriam Bargman
(Canada)
  M. Amin Arnaout (USA)
 

Asia Hai Yan Wang (China)
  David Charles Harris (Australia)
  Iekuni Ichikawa (Japan)
 
Europe Tilman B. Drueke (France)
  Giuseppe Remuzzi (Italy)
  John Feehally (United Kingdom)
  Juergen Floege (Germany)

 

In addition and according to ISN’s Constitution,
Claudio Ronco (Italy) and Emmanuel Burdmann
(Brazil) were appointed to replace the two ISN Council representatives who will
serve on the ISN Executive Committee.

As for the Executive Committee Members, ISN is
pleased to announce that:

Jan Weening (The Netherlands)
took over the Presidential duties from Robert Atkins.

William Couser’s (USA) accession
from Vice President to President-Elect was ratified by the ISN Council.

Eberhardt Ritz (Germany) was nominated
by the ISN Executive Committee, approved by the ISN Council and ratified by
the General Assembly as ISN’s new Vice President.

Eric Neilson (USA) was nominated
by the ISN Executive Committee, approved by the ISN Council and ratified by
the General Assembly as ISN’s new Treasurer.

Norbert Lameire (Belgium) and
Miguel Riella (Brazil) were appointed by ISN’s President, Jan Weening, as Council
representatives to the ISN Executive Committee.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the other
nominees, who regrettably were not elected for their willingness and interest
to stand as candidates and serve the ISN in an official function.
