COMGAN
General Information
ISN created COMGAN , or the Commission for the Global Advancement of Nephrology in the mid-1990s, in order to provide an umbrella for all of the Society’s outreach programs in the developing world. COMGAN is one of the largest medical specialty outreach programs in the world, and works with national and regional societies as well as local leaders to identify educational and clinical needs. |

COMGAN meets these needs by developing post-graduate continuing medical education (CME) programs with local physicians. Through COMGAN, ISN has reached areas of the globe previously limited in exposure to formal nephrology education and practice.
Participation ranges from 30-50 participants of smaller courses to 500-2000 participants attending the larger national society meetings. Annually, it is estimated that some 11,000 medical doctors participate in COMGAN-related programs.
COMGAN has become the Society’s trademark for continuing medical education programs throughout the world, with emphasis on:

Research Studies and Prevention
Education
Transplantation
Renal Pathology
Indigenous Peoples
Tropical Nephrology
Renal Registries
Hypertension
Practising physicians in Africa, South Asia, East Asia, South-East Asia, Indonesia-Philippines-Pacific Islands, Eastern & Central Europe, Latin America, Middle East, and Russia-CIS have enhanced opportunities for participation in state-of-the-art programs through COMGAN.
